Kempeitai anthony reckitt and le jockey
Tuneful and uplifting Kempeitai is bizarrely named after the japanese military police active during the second world war. This sounds more like the third summer of love (may it come soon!). With an eighties electro tinge Kempeitai is full of floating and interlocking arps carried forward by the crisp production and fine bass. One to end on.
Accidental Hero
Jamie Henderson and le jockey
Accidental Hero is a quirky tranche of minimal house, a muscular bass drives a plethora of percussive pips, pings and pongs toward the break where an angle grinder of a riff removes all those extremities non essential to dancing before dropping into angular fidgitt funk. Tweaky, but powerful on the dance floor, like the bastard child of the terminator and the georgio moroder.
Getting Lost on Brick Lane
le jockey and dj largo
Coming from a darker stranger place FM chords descend into reverb and swirls of disembodied voice. You are lost and confused. Clippy rhythms start to resolve over a sub bass into the clearer space of the break. The drop dispels the darkness as finally you recognize the street signs again. Maybe you never got lost on Brick Lane, or if you did, maybe you never found your way home...
